FSU Policy on Diversity

The entire Frostburg State University community -- including the student body, the faculty and staff, the President of the University and its administration -- affirms its commitment to a campus environment which values human diversity and respects individuals who represent that diversity.

The community declares fostering diversity and respect for difference to be a fundamental goal of higher education, ranking among the highest priorities of this institution. Therefore, the University community takes the unequivocal position that racist practices, or any action, or institutional structure or process, that has for its purpose the subordination of a person or a group based on race, color, disability, genetic information, creed, marital status, national origin, sex, age, or sexual orientation, will not be tolerated. It is the responsibility of each person within the Bobcat community to join in creating an environment in which all can thrive without fear of hate or bias.

Message from President Nowaczyk

Colleges and universities are truly microcosms of the world in which we live. It is therefore our responsibility to create an environment for students, faculty and staff that embraces and values that diversity while also providing an education about the intrinsic value of different genders, sexualities, races, cultural backgrounds, nationalities and religions. At Frostburg State University, the University Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion provides direction about how to create a welcoming environment that facilitates a truly diverse community. It is my hope that the information found in this website will provide insight into the efforts of the UCDEI and our entire University community as we strive to prepare our students to approach our world with an open mind.

Sincerely,
Dr. Ronald Nowaczyk
FSU President
