Ethnobotanical Herbarium
Digital Ethnobotanical Herbarium Coming Soon!
The Appalachian Center for Ethnobotanical Studies and Frostburg State University Herbarium are dedicated to providing access to an herbarium to the students of the University as well as the community by adding an online component.
This digitized herbarium will feature ethnobotanical uses (medicinal, artisanal, culinary, etc.) of the specimens on this website to provide a connection to the past and present cultures of Appalachia.
The University herbarium will seek to maintain biodiversity by preserving various plants, many of which have been collected by prominent taxonomists such as Dr. James Duke and Dr. Melvin Brown whose collections will also be featured in this herbarium.
Students of the FSU Economic Botany class are actively engaged in this process.
