Plant Facts - Jewelweed, Impatiens capensis

  • This plant is also called orange jewelweed because the leaves will take on a silver sheen when immersed in water.
  • Some people call this "touch-me-not" because the seed pods pop open when touched.
  • These orange colored flowers often grow near poison ivy which is funny because some people say rubbing it on helps prevent poison ivy rash!
