Plant Facts - Beebalm, Monarda didyma

  • Commonly called bee balm, this plant is also known as bergamot because its smell resembles a bergamot orange.
  • Bee balm is from the mint family and has a square stem.
  • Can be drunk as a tea which the settlers did after the Boston Tea Party in 1773.
  • Bee balm smells pretty and the flowers and leaves are often used in potpourri.
