International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)
Fall semester, Spring semester, Full Academic Year

The International Student Exchange Program is headquartered in Washington DC and provides more than 200 foreign destinations for US students wishing to study abroad. At the same time, students from overseas campuses come to FSU to spend a semester or a full year. FSU is a member of ISEP, and therefore all FSU students are eligible to apply for ISEP exchanges.

Dates: Please note that the dates for each ISEP program varies, but are listed in the ISEP program catalog available in the CIE Office or on the ISEP website (below). Most overseas universities have fall semesters which run from September to January (15 credits), or fall terms which run from September to December (12 credits only), and spring semesters which run from January or February to May, June or July, depending on the length of the spring recess. Pay special attention to dates for colleges and universities in the southern hemisphere, which usually begin their year in mid-February and finish in November.

Course Offerings: Each college or university offers a different listing of courses. Please check the program catalog or the ISEP website. All courses must be approved for transfer by your Academic Advisor and the CIE Director prior to departure.

Costs: FSU students pay full time tuition and housing to FSU for however long they will be studying overseas. All students are also required to pay a $300 nonrefundable participation fee to ISEP, and a $150 nonrefundable administration fee to FSU once they are accepted. Additional costs will include a round-trip airline ticket, a passport, additional travel while overseas, an ISIC card and any health insurance in addition to the required ISEP insurance.

Accommodation: Students will be housed in local student hostels, with families, or on the university campus itself. Some housing will include some meals, while other types of housing will be self-catered and students will receive a cash stipend.

How to Apply: Come by the CIE office to pick up an application form, or attend the CIE study abroad fair in September, or any CIE information session at the Fuller House. Application deadlines are February 1st for the spring semester and September 1st for the fall semester and academic year. Please note that these are ISEP deadlines, and so FSU deadlines will usually be two months earlier.
