1. Disability Compliance in Higher Education
This seminar is designed primarily for faculty and staff who are interested
in learning how ADA relates to classroom instruction, departmental
staffing, and administrative responsibilities. Specifics of discussion
include:
- What is required law?
- What is "reasonable accommodation?"
- Who must provide this accommodation?
Participants will work in small groups, using case scenarios to develop
reasonable accommodations to assist an individual with a disability.

2. ADA and Disability Accommodations: Negotiating the
Legal Pathways
Designed for a diverse audience, this seminar covers a wide range of
topics, including:
- Legal requirements and provisions of the Act
- The legal rights of persons with disabilities
- Guidelines for fulfilling the law's obligations
Solutions that emphasize "the spirit behind the law" will be provided.

3. ADA Employment Compliance and Successful Job Accommodations
The focus of the discussion in this seminar is two-fold: (a) increasing
the participants' knowledge of ADA; (b) surveying the impact of the
law on the workplace and workforce. Several other topics are highlighted:
- Adapting the work environment to accommodate an employee with a
disability.
- Finding solutions to job accommodations requests.
- Developing strategies that allow an employee to return to work
while maintaining (increasing) productivity.
- Interviewing and developing job descriptions.
Participants will be asked to develop a work schedule and reasonable
accommodations based upon case scenarios.
