Compares the original Bloom's Taxonomy with the Bloom's Taxonomy Revised.
Proposes the use of Bloom's Taxonomy Revised as a basis for establishing
course learning outcomes, the choice of learning processes, and the choice
of learnilng assessments. Tom
Hawk - "Learning Models." Provides an overview of behaviorist,
experiential, cognitive, social, and mixed learning models. Includes a
brief description of stage development models, adult learning models,
conversational and discussion learning, and liberation pedagogy. John
O'Rorke - "Learning Activities & Assessment ." A brief introduction
to constructing useful activities that help students achieve the learning
goals of the course; and discussion of appropirate assessments of learning
outcomes. Tom
Hawk - "Teaching Philosophy & the Ethics of Care." Provides
an introduction to an ethic of care, pedagogical caring, and recognition
and appraisal respect in the context of teaching and learning. Encourages
faculty to develop their own personal teaching and learning philosophy,
including the surfacing of assumptions and values that underlie their
choices for teaching and learning. Jodi
Welsch - "Designing Rubrics." A rubric is a grading tool that
defines the explicit expectations for an assessment and identifies the
varying levels of performance. In this presentation, participants saw
examples of task descriptions, criteria and completed rubrics and were
guided to consider the design of a rubric for their own assignment. Among
other benefits, rubrics can help instructors connect learning goals to
assessments and support students in producing higher quality work. Tracy
