About the Chairman

Jeff Krone continues his long association with Frostburg State University, heading up the athletic fund raising effort as director of the new FSU Bobcat Club.

Krone has been the radio “Voice of the Bobcats” since 1970. While Operations Manager and Sports Director of WFRB Radio in Frostburg from 1967 - 1987, and later as Sports Information Director, and right up to the present time, he continues to broadcast FSU football games. Over the past 34 years, Krone has been heard carrying Frostburg sporting events from many points in the East, and from as far away as London, England and Phoenix, Arizona.

Krone also served as FSU Sports Information Director – Assistant to Athletic Director from1987 to 1999. His devotion to FSU has taken his influence far beyond the general parameters of sports publications and media guides. His contacts with members of the media from other areas, including Baltimore, Washington and Pittsburgh, has helped spread the name and athletic accomplishments of Frostburg State far and wide. He was influential in the promotion of the Washington Redskins Training Camp, appearances of the Harlem Globetrotters and the Maryland State Games on the campus.

Krone was Chairman of the Bobcat Club from 1979-1987. He was one of those most involved in the founding of the Bobcat Club. He has also served on the Hall of Fame committee since 1977.
