Flu vaccine continues to be available to students, faculty and staff at the Brady Health Center. Call Brady at 301-687-4310 to make an appointment

September, 2010

Brady Health Center will be sponsoring flu vaccination clinics starting on Thursday September 9, 2010.

New guidelines for 2010 from the ACIP (American College on Immunization Practices) emphasize that all persons aged 6 months and over should receive annual influenza vaccination.

The vaccine this year contains the virus strains A/California H1N1 (the same strain that was in the 2009 H1N1 vaccine); A/Perth (H3N2) and B/Brisbane. Vaccination should begin as soon as the vaccine becomes available since H3N2 has been identified already in 12 states. Routine annual vaccination is especially important for individuals at higher risk for influenza or for complications as pregnant women, infants and young children aged 6 months to 5 years and those with chronic ear, lung, kidney, liver, nero or metabolic disorders (including diabetes mellitus).

For those who are unable to make the posted flu clinics, call Brady Health at 301-697-4310 to schedule an appointment. The cost of the vaccination is $25.00 payable by cash, check or Bobcat express.
