This year's adopt-a-school:
South Penn Elementary School
As part of our mission to spread children's literature, the CLC has recently decided to collaborate with local schools to help spread the Centre's contagious love for reading. As part of this project, Centre staff visits that year's selected school to read literature to the students. The children are also provided with opportunities to attend age-specific presentations by noted authors or illustrators.
This year, CLC Book Award Winner, Gianna Marino, travelled to South Penn Elementary. There, she read her book, Too Tall Houses, and also drew an illustration from the book with students.
Last year’s Storybook Holiday author, S.D. Schindler, traveled to our 2012 adpot-a-school, Beall Elementary and presented to students from Pre-K to 2nd grade.
Each month, the CLC Staff visits the Adopt-A-School to read to students. They promote new and upcoming books in children's literature.
