Endowments

Children's Literature Centre Fund

To donate to the Children's Literature Fund, please download this form or give online.

This fund was established in the spring of 2000 by Dr. Edward L. Root to support the Centre’s varied programs including: the Spring Festival of Children's Literature, the children's Literature Centre's Awards Banquet, the 9,000 picture book library collection and our adopted school partnership. Furthermore, it provides funds for CLC's programs such as: Storybook Holiday, Pirates Ahoy, and Harry Potter night. These programs and events serve more than 4,500 individuals each year. The goal is to create an endowment that will sustain these events and programs in perpetuity. Donors will be recognized on a donor board by contribution level.

Annetta and Lloyd Marshall

Annetta Hammill Marshall had a passion for teaching, and a passion for children’s literature.  As a teacher in the Allegany County school system for 38 years, and a supervisor of FSU interns, Mrs. Marshall created  many lifelong connections with former students and colleagues.  Her love of literature led to a wonderful friendship with The Children’s Literature Centre. In 2004, she established the Annetta H. and Lloyd M. Marshall Scholarship, to provide registration fees for teacher candidates to attend the annual Spring Festival of Children’s Literature. Later, she decided to support all the various endeavors of the Centre.  Her legacy is honored by this endowment.

Rae Brodell

In an effort to ensure the continuation of the activities sponsored by the Children’s Literature Centre, Rae and Robert Brodell established the Rae Brodell Children’s Literature Endowment in 1995.  This endowment, established as a tribute to their love of literature, reading, and children. It not only supports present activities, but also allows for the developtment of future endeavors, as the Centre strives to bring the joy of literature into the lives of others.

Mary K. Finan

Professor Emeritus, Dr. Mary K. Finan and her husband, businessman and former member of the USM Board of Regents, Mr. Thomas B. Finan, created the MAry K. Finan Endowment for the Children's Literature Centre, to recognize the unique resource that the CLC provides to educators, caregivers, children, and the community. Established in 2010, the endowment helps to continue the Centre's mission, which is to build a passion for lifelong reading.
