Students: Majors/Careers

Choosing a major and career path is one of the most rewarding and challenging decisions you will face through out your college experience. When you think about it, however, the decision is not etched in stone and can change through out your education and lifetime. So relax, clear your mind, and consider these three important steps in finding your fit in the world of work.

Let's get started, register with the Career Services Office. This will allow us to know your interest and assist you in your career development needs. You may upload your resume also.
 

Step 1: Self Assessment: Make Your Career Decision Your Own

  • Choose a major that suits you; not your parents, friends, or society
  • Talk to a career counselor in the Office of Career Services about your major/career choices
     
  • Assess your interests, abilities, likes and dislikes

    Making it COUNT

    With articles written for students, by students as well as articles written by career professionals, the Making It Count website is a valuable tool for students transitioning into high school, into college and into their career. The site also includes interactive games, tools, and e-newsletters.

Take a broad range of online career assessments that provide immediate results with information regarding career selection, leadership style, work environment and strengths. Offers links for you to explore your results in greater detail. Specific assessments/exercises include:

    Frostburg State University Alumni are available as mentors to serve as internship sponsors, to network with, shadow and as a resource to answer any career development concerns or questions.
