The Office:
- monitors University compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA),
- monitors campus adherence to University Policies & federal and state dictates concerning equal employment opportunity (E.E.O.), and
- handles immigration and naturalization issues for FSU faculty and administrative staff.

- Diversity and Minority Issues Video Library
We have a small selection of videos available for instructors to use in their classrooms to assist in increasing students’ awareness and understanding of minority and diversity issues.
- Lending Library
The Diversity Center has a small library of books dealing with minority and diversity issues available for students to borrow. These books may be borrowed by signing them out on a checkout log available in the office. We have a list of all the books we have available. Books borrowed are the student’s responsibility and must be returned within a reasonable time.

ACE - Achievers Creating Excellence
(through the Academic Monitoring Program)
Through the A.C.E. Club/Academic Monitoring Program the Diversity Center monitors a student's progress three times during each semester. The progress of each student will be evaluated by using the Academic Monitoring report that is completed by the student's instructors. This feed back is then shared with them. Efforts will be made to refer each students to the appropriate support services. Monitoring cycle dates are chosen to best help a student before they reach an academic crisis. Academic progress meetings are held with students whose progress indicates they may need assistance. The program's participants are a mix of: first year students (freshmen & transfers), students experiencing academic difficulty, athletes, student leaders and students enrolled in particular programs.
In addition, some students are signed up by academic advisors.

Qualification for the Program
Freshman and transfer students will be identified as possible candidates for the monitoring program and will be invited to participate.
- Mid-term Warnings - Students who receive three or more warnings during a semester will be encouraged to participate in the program if they did not choose to do so initially.
- Referral - A student may be referred by individual staff members.
- Academic Probation - All students who are on academic probation at the end of their first semester will be invited to participate in the monitoring program.
Support Services
Efforts are made to refer each student to the appropriate support services, if needed or desired. These services may include tutoring, help from the Writing Center, test taking skills, study skills. or other assistances.
Monitoring Cycle Dates
Expectations of Students
Students who are in the Academic Monitoring Program are expected to:
- Provide current contact information,
- Meet with their monitor to develop an agreeable contract for what needs to be accomplished to achieve academic success, and
- Complete all tasks as outlined.
Monitoring Status
- Below 2.0 gpa/2 or more D/F reports
Students are required to make appointments with their Academic Monitor to review feedback from their instructors.
- No D/F reports
After written reminders are sent out to students they are expected to stop in the Diversity Center to review their folder. No appointment is required, but is encouraged
- 2.3 cum gpa
Graduation from the program.
