Academic
Monitoring
Each student receives an evaluation
of his/her academic progress at the start of the
school year that summarizes his/her strengths,weaknesses,
and overall success during the summer program.
This is intended to help the student focus on
areas that need improvement. The RMSC staff monitors
each student's course load, grades received, and
college entrance exam scores. Students are supplied
with software, books, and tutors if needed.
Students
are required to maitain the following high academic
standards during the school year:
1)
2.5 overall GPA
2) A's and B's in math science courses
3) Completion of all assignments
4) Submission of all report cards
5) At least one math class every year: Algebra
I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus,
Calculus
6) At least one science class every year: Biology,
Chemistry, Physics
If
a student does not meet the requirements listed
above, s/he is placed on academic probation and
given one semester to show improvement.
Assignments
Students are given assignments
periodically during the school year. These assignments
sometimes involve collecting information about
the student and his/her courses and academic participation.
Fieldtrips
Students are invited to attend
fieldtrips during the school year also. These
trips usually include a tour of a university or
cultural events. All RMSC events are free for
participants.
