Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

    • Reside in one of the following counties of Maryland:
      • Allegany, Garrett, Washington, Frederick HS, Brunswick HS, and
        Gov. Thomas Johnson HS in Fredrick County, or Baltimore City
    • Currently be in the 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade.
      (8th graders do not begin participation until the summer following their 8th grade year)
    • Meet the federal government's low-income guideline and/or be a potential first generation college student (i.e. neither parent/guardian with whom the student lives has a bachelor’s degree).
    • Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in Mathematics and/or Science.
    • Demonstrate academic potential.
    • Demonstrate a need for services.

The Regional Math Science Center at Frostburg State University is entirely funded by the U.S. Department of Education with an annual budget over $280,000.
