Freshman Orientation:  Introduction to Higher Education

The Freshman Orientation course, Introduction to Higher Education, is designed to help ease the transition from high school to college. Instruction is usually on a personal level, with small class sizes.  Academic and social skills necessary for success in college are the primary focus of these classes.

ORIE 101:  Intro. To Higher Education

Topics covered include, among others, study skills, time management, student services, personal responsibility, academic policies, educational and career planning, and diversity.  This course is required of all entering freshmen with less than 13 semester hours of transfer credit.  Once enrolled, students may not withdraw from the course unless they are withdrawing from the University.  This is a one (1) credit course.  The credit earned from ORIE 101 can be applied to both your GEP requirement and your 120 credit hour minimum required for graduation.
