Mission Statement

The mission of the Tutoring Center is to promote academic excellence by providing quality resources and staff that meet the needs of FSU students who want or require additional help with their course work. The core focus is to be an extension of the classroom experience by providing free individual and group tutoring, workshops, and presentations that afford the skills necessary for students to achieve academic success and graduate from Frostburg State University.

Goals

  • To provide a positive and professional environment for learning
  • To hire, train, and retain qualified students as tutors
  • To offer individual and group tutoring, as well as workshops and presentations on a variety of learning issues
  • To be a vital extension of and partner with academic departments
  • To expand campus awareness of the Center and its services
  • To develop and share expertise with on-campus constituents

These goals will be achieved by

  • Assisting students in developing the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in an academic environment
  • Assisting students in becoming competent, self-confident learners
  • Providing students with the tools needed to navigate their way through an array of learning situations successfully
