Honor Student Campus Sustainability Assessment

Department: Biology
Symposium Year: 2012
Student(s): Ben Brown, David Fisher, and Morgan Bauer
Faculty Mentor(s): Dr. Sunshine L. Brosi

Sustainability has been a concern as our campus grows and our community looks to the future. The purpose of this project is to determine faculty/staff/student perceptions of sustainability initiative at Frostburg State University. This was implemented by administering questionnaires to faculty/staff/students. Interview questions were designed to determine perceptions about the sustainability efforts and to prioritize areas of interest. This research has provided data to assist with decisions related to sustainability. From our results we can conclude that while interest in sustainability initiatives is quite high, the level of reported engagement is significantly lower.
