Faculty Mentor(s): Dr. Frank K. Ammer and Ms. Elaine Raesly (Evergreen Heritage Center)
The Evergreen Heritage Center, a 130-acre property near Mt Savage, conducts 1-day meaningful environmental education experiences for Allegany County Public School students in 7th grade. Students are given a pre- and post- test that are scored to determine number of questions correct and determine whether students learned during the field trip experience. The environmental education staff scores all tests for consistency. Student scores will be examined and analyzed to determine average pretest score, average posttest score, and percent improvement (if any). Suggestions for improving the methodology and instruction will be provided.
