FSUBusiness welcomes
all alumni or business people who would like to become involved in helping
our students and our college. Click on a link below or scroll below to
see how you can become involved!
Do you have information about an internship or permanent employment opportunity
that you would love to see filled by an FSUBusiness student?
Alumni and friends are invited to promote
internships and employment opportunities to our College of Business students.
Alums and employers should use the following procedures to advertise their
opportunities to students:
Employers should contact the College
and provide information about the internship opportunity and/or employment
opportunity (accounting, management, human resources, finance, marketing,
small business, or economics). Contact Dr. Ahmad Tootoonchi, Interim
Dean, at 301.687.4740 or tootoonchi@frostburg.edu
to discuss the internship or career opportunity you would like to share
with students.
The College will publicize appropriate opportunities
through campus email, class announcements, job postings, etc.
If academic credit is requested for an internship,
the appropriate department chair will have to approve the internship
before an announcement can be made.
Alums and employers may register to view online student
resumes through FSU’s
College Central. Alums and employers may also schedule campus visits
or make contact with students through the University's
Office
of Career Services.
Are you planning to be in or around the Frostburg area
at a particular time? Would you be interested in speaking to a College
of Business class or organization about your own organization or career
field? FSUBusiness welcomes any speakers who have business experience
and expertise. Contact Dr. Ahmad Tootoonchi, Associate Dean, at
301.687.4740 or tootoonchi@frostburg.edu
to discuss possibilities.
The Business/Alumni/Student Mentoring
Program (BASM) brings students and mentors together to enhance the learning
environment through the understanding and experience of mentors. FSUBusiness
is looking for business people and alumni to serve as mentors.
What does mentoring Involve?
A mentor acts as an educator, coach, and resource
to the business world.
Mentor and student will usually interact via e-mail,
exchanging short messages, questions/answers, and advice.
Who should consider becoming a mentor?
Are you still excited about and proud of your career?
Have you learned valuable lessons you would like to
share?
Do you have 14-16 hours to devote to a student over
an 8-month period (that equates to only 2 hours or less per month)?
Do you enjoy helping others succeed?
If all of these are true of you, then YOU are who
we are looking for!
What are the goals?
Students will receive one-to-one advice, support,
and guidance on the transition from college to the business world from
someone with experience.
Students will expand the learning experience beyond
the classroom.
Students will be able to ask questions about the business
world in a secure environment.
Students and mentors will have
FUN!
How will I be matched with a student?
Mentors will fill out a student preference form to
ensure a good match.
