Dean's MessageWelcome to the College of Education. We appreciate your interest in us and hope we can serve you. Frostburg State University was founded as a normal school for teachers in 1898. We are proud of our long tradition of service to the schoolchildren of our region, state, and nation. Wherever we go representing the College, we are asked by superintendents and others to send more Frostburg graduates to their school systems. This testimony to our success as a preparer of teachers is very much appreciated. In the last 100 years, the College has developed into a premier place for the preparation of professionals in many different fields. Our programs in Exercise and Sports Science, Health Promotion, Health Fitness, Human Performance, Athletic Training, and Recreation share a common dedication to the well being of their clients. The Education programs are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education or approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. The Recreation and Parks Management program is accredited by the NRPA/AALR Council on Accreditation (an independent organization). The College of Education welcomes diverse and international students, whether they are interested in our unique Adventure Sports program or our excellent more traditional programs. Check us out.
