Instructional Technology services at FSU offers a variety of services to enhance teaching and facilitate learning.  We work closely with faculty and staff to address the unique challenges involved in each project. Additionally, ITs coordinates training and provides multimedia tools and resources to support the instructional process.

Smart Classrooms/Interactive Video

ITs’s mission is to bring all classrooms to the standard of Smart Classrooms supports FSU’s goal to enhance classroom technologies. This designation provides for the addition of state of the art computer, audio-video, auxiliary, switching and control equipment to each classroom.

FSU maintains 3 interactive video classrooms and two meeting rooms that use the USM Interactive Video Network (IVN) system.  FSU's IVN system is IP based and can connect to compatible systems around the globe.

ITs Offers:

  • Training
  • Scheduling
  • Maintenance of these rooms

Multimedia Services

ITs provides faculty with 2D and digital products that are based on the instructor’s specific classroom need or teaching style. These services included:

  • Mounting
  • Laminating
  • Digital photography
  • Audio and video editing
  • Transfer of old media to new media
  • Assistance in the preparation of digital course materials for online instruction

ITs also loans equipment to faculty and staff for use in the classroom or for FSU activities. 

Equipment includes:

  • Projectors
  • Audio and recording equipment
  • Supplemental items including: portable lecterns, screens, banner stands, tri-pods, etc.

Please note that inventory is limited.  As such, reservation is required for equipment needs.  Equipment needed for use outside of the classroom will incur a rental fee.

Distance Education and Technology

To enable FSU to expand course offerings to students anywhere in the world and to support distance education and web-enhanced instruction, FSU uses interactive video classrooms, Blackboard, and Elluminate.

To support faculty in the use of these technologies and to also address pedagogy and the quality courses using these technologies, ITs offers professional development opportunities to include, but are not limited to:

  • Faculty Online Certification
  • Applying the Quality Matters™ Rubric for online/hybrid courses
  • TASTE Conference
