Exclusively developed for universities and colleges, Ruckus is an online entertainment service that is designed to provide students with a wide variety of social networking and community building features to help you explore, share and download digital media content.

Currently enrolled students at FSU are eligible for the University-sponsored Ruckus service.

  • Why is FSU using Ruckus?

    FSU (along with a growing number of other universities) wants to offer students a legal way to download music, movies and other copyrighted multimedia.

  • Who can get Ruckus?

    Ruckus is available to any currently enrolled student at FSU.

  • How much does Ruckus cost?

    Ruckus Music Service is free to all students, both on and off campus.

    Any current Frostburg student can, at no cost, download and share over 3 million songs and growing. Songs are downloaded to the student's computer and can be played anywhere.

    In addition to the basic service, Ruckus offers a variety of other services which can be purchased for an additional charge. For those wishing to play downloaded songs on portable players there is "Ruckus-To-Go" where music can be downloaded to PlaysforSure compatible players for $20.00 per semester.

    Students who wish to burn songs to CD can purchase individual tracks for .79 to .99 cents per track or $9.99 per average album.

    On-campus students can access Ruckus' library of over 100 rotating Hollywood movies and television shows for $15.00 per semester.

  • How do I get Ruckus?

    1 . Go to www.ruckus.com. On your first visit, you will need to create an account. Choose Join Now to begin this process.

    2. At the next page select Frostburg State University from the drop-down list and then enter your FSU email address.

    3. Enter your FSU email address twice, and check the box "I am a student"

    4. Ruckus will now authenticate that you are registered for classes at FSU, and you will receive an email from Ruckus containing a link. If your FSU email does not authenticate (error message: email address not found) then contact the FSU helpdesk (x7777; off-campus 301/687-7777).

    5. Open the email that was sent to your FSU email address and select the link to be taken to the personal information page. (make sure this email from Ruckus is not in your junk or spam folder)

    6. At the personal information page fill out all the fields and then hit "Next" to complete your registration.

    7. Login to Ruckus.com. By completing step 4 you will be registered for Ruckus. You can now login, create a profile, write reviews, and view all music, movie and editorial content on Ruckus.

  • How do I get help with using Ruckus?

    Use the self help in the Ruckus Client.

    PLEASE NOTE: Your Ruckus password is not your FSU password. When you subscribe, you will create your own Ruckus password. If you need help with your Ruckus password, contact Ruckus.

    If you still need assistance, call the FSU Help Desk on-campus at x7777 or off-campus at 301/687-7777 between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Students may also e-mail help requests to studenthelpdesk@frostburg.edu.
