Responsibilities of Official Web Page Managers
Individual units are responsible for creating and maintaining their
own information, responding to inquiries about the information, and updating
that information as necessary. To aid in this process, the Web Advisory
Group requires that each unit make one person responsible for that unit's
information.
The unit's designated web page manager should
- Register as your unit's web page manager with the FSU Webmaster.
- Coordinate all web page projects with the FSU Webmaster.
- Coordinate the gathering of information for Internet publication.
- Decide how the information will be organized.
- Decide how often the information is going to change and how often
it will be updated.
- Integrate Internet publishing into the unit's publication cycle.
- Prepare the information for display on the Internet by saving it
in the appropriate file type.
- Make certain that all departmental web documents are in compliance
with copyright rules and with FSU guidelines and policies. See the Standards,
Guidelines, and Procedures page for more information.
- Review (at regular intervals) the unit's online information to verify
that it is up-to-date. Perform updates as necessary.
- Contact the FSU Webmaster when a customed designed home page is ready
for review. Custom designs must be reviewed by the Web Advisory Group
prior to implementation. This review can take up to 10 business days.
- Notify the FSU Webmaster when a newly developed or significantly
changed web site is ready for review by completing the Request
for Web Site Review form. Note: Site reviews can take up to 10
business days to be completed.
- Notify the FSU Webmaster via e-mail when updates
to the unit page(s) are ready to "go live".
The FSU Webmaster is available to assist and support all official web
page managers in building and managing their unit web pages.
