Example #1 - University Web Template pages

Web Page showing effective template implementation

The University Web Templates section of the Web Center site (including the actual page you are viewing now) is built using the new university templates. More specifically, the site

  • is based on Site Design Option 1 with the 62 pixel high Program/Unit Identifier area
  • uses the 450 pixel & 100 pixel main/secondary Content Area width combination
  • started from the text-based University Web template file, index_text.htm
  • uses the olive color (Hex #666600) from the dark set of the FSU Web Color set
  • uses a tint of the olive color for the navigation column background


Example #2 - Student & Community Involvement V.O.I.C.E. Newsletter

The Student & Community Involvement VOICE newsletter was built using the new university templates. More specifically, the site

  • is based on Site Design Option 1 with the 62 pixel high Program/Unit Identifier area
  • displays an enhanced Program/Unit Identifier area through the use of graphics
  • uses the 400 pixel & 150 pixel main/secondary Content Area width combination
  • illustrates creative use of the secondary content area
  • started from the graphics-enhanced University Web template file, index_graphic.htm
  • uses the olive color (Hex #000066) from the dark set of the FSU Web Color set
  • uses gold color (Hex #CC9933) from the bright set of the FSU Web Color set for the navigation column background


Example #3 - Planetarium web pages

The Planetarium web site was recently moved to the new university templates. More specifically, the site

  • is based on Site Design Option 1 with the 62 pixel high Program/Unit Identifier area
  • uses the 400 pixel & 150 pixel main/secondary Content Area width combination
  • illustrates creative use of the secondary content area
  • started from the totally-text University Web template file, index_text.htm
  • uses the bright red color (Hex #990000) from the dark set of the FSU Web Color set
  • uses gold color (Hex #CC9933) from the bright set of the FSU Web Color set for the navigation column background
  • uses the bright red color (Hex #990000) for the link color and the dark wine color (Hex #660000) for the visited link color

  • uses the 350 pixel & 200 pixel main/secondary Content Area width combination

  • started from the totally-text University Web template file, index_text.htm


Custom Design Example
The following design shows a sample of a custom designed home page created from the customizable version of Site Design Option 1.

The custom design is created through creative use of the Main Navigation and Content areas. It also includes a secondary navigation area below the navigation and content areas ( and above the standard footer).

If this were a real site, secondary pages in the site would use the standard site design option 1.
