Mission :

The mission of the Center for Regional Progress (CRP) is to analyze and disseminate economic development information for the tri-state area (Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania). The CRP acts as a "clearinghouse" for economic ideas, statistics, data, and services, including research, analysis, and forecasting for government agencies and businesses. The CRP currently serves eleven counties in Western Maryland (Allegany, Garrett, Washington), Northern West Virginia (Berkeley, Hampshire, Mineral, Morgan) and Southwestern/Central Pennsylvania (Bedford, Franklin, Fulton, Somerset).

Our information is primarily disseminated monthly through (Business Barometer of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce) and quarterly through the Regional Review newsletter.

The Regional Review provides data on Employment, Cost of Living Update, County Business Patterns, Services in the Region, Population and Housing, Regional Traffic Flows, and much more. Data is tabulated and presented for each Regional County, for that state and for the Region as a whole, so you can compare your county to the surrounding counties in your state, your state, and the Region. Every issue includes different topics, except for consistent economic and employment updates.

Business Barometer (included in the monthly newsletter of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce) provides data on Sales Tax collections, Employment, Cost of living, and Housing for Allegany County. Not only do we produce the newsletters, but we are also an outstanding source of economic information. We receive county data from many Federal sources, state sources, and private sources.

We also provide analytical studies and reports, and have worked on topics such as concentric population analysis, economic inventories, impact studies, tax analysis, and others.
