      Hours

            Monday-Thursday 10a.m.- 6p.m.
        Friday-Saturday 10a.m.-2p.m.

Do you need a comfortable, vibrant space to read or write? Then come visit the Center at 22 East Main Steet in downtown Frostburg. We have coffee, wi-fi access, writing reference books, and contemporary literary journals to browse. We also have free copies of our local publications: Bittersweet, Backbone Mountain Review, and Nightsun. Leave a written poem on our easel pad for display in the window, or add a line via typewriter to our Exquisite Corpse project. While you're at it, check out our local author book display or our animated poetry videos!

For information on the Center's activities, download our newsletter, The Writer's Notepad (downloadable PDF file). Activities include bringing writers to the Frostburg community for public readings, workshops, and discussions; the publication and distribution of Backbone Mountain Review in partnership with the Allegany Arts Council; production of Oasis, a short weekly radio program on WFWM; a reading space with contemporary literary journals and access to a selection of the Lannan videos featuring writers such as Li-Young Lee, Adrienne Rich, Louise Gluck, and Octavio Paz; and literary opportunities for students and community members.

The Center is a crucial element to the downtown Frostburg arts and entertainment district, sponsoring regularly scheduled events such as writers' and readers' groups, the annual Nightsun conference, and readings by fiction writers and poets while forging partnerships with local businesses, including Dante's, Mountain City Coffee and Creamery, Mountain City Traditonal Arts and Main Street Books. We are a proud participant of the annual block parties and art walks and we invite readers and writers to stop in and visit us.
