One-Act

One-Act Play Festival

Submissions for the One-Act Play Competition will be accepted
between January 1st, 2013 - April 1st, 2013.



The Frostburg State University Center for Creative Writing will hold its fourth annual
One-Act Playwriting Competition to showcase new works. Writers must submit their one-act plays
(with a running time of 40 minutes or less) to the Center by April 1.
Entries will be judged on plot, character development, dialogue and overall quality.


Please send manuscripts and enclose your $20 reading fee
(checks made payable to Frostburg State University)

The first prize winner will receive $750 and a production of his or her play at the
Frostburg One-Act Playwriting Festival, which will be held on the
FSU campus the last weekend in September.
Second and third prize winners will receive $250 and $100,
respectively, as well as staged readings of their works.

When: September 27-28, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

Why: The One-Act Play Festival features staged productions
of the national One-Act Playwriting Competition

2013 Winners:

1st Place - The Singular of Dice by Ross Tedford Kendall
2nd Place - The Glass Ceiling by Sue Lange
3rd Place - The Shrine by Michael Edan

 

Tickets are priced at $10 for adults/$5 for students and will be available at Main Street Books and The Allegany Arts Council, as well as the Palace Theater box office on the nights of the performances.
