Readings & Other Literary Events

Each year the English Department/Frostburg Center for Creative Writing brings several visiting writers to campus to give public readings, visit classes, and handle audience questions. Often videotaped to later air on public access television, the readings are a way to make contemporary fiction and poetry come to life.

Books by our authors are available at the reading and our guests are always willing to sign books, take questions, and be a part of the community.

This year, we'll be sending out invitations to various schools to bring their students to a reading; we also plan to invite other community groups to come out and participate. Literary readings at Frostburg: a different sort of cultural event-- and the best part: they're free.

Past readers at Frostburg have included: Ann Hood, Ellen Bryant Voigt, Dinty Moore, Dave King, Tim Seibles, Charles Baxter, Juliana Baggott, Stephen Dunn, Roger Skipper, Billy Collins, Jack Driscoll, Jan Beatty, Clint McGowan, Gary Snyder, Joy Harjo, Carolyn Forche, Toi Derricotte, Galway Kinnell, Robert Bly, June Jordan, Marvin Bell, Robert Cooperman, Sharon Olds, Maya Angelou, Maxine Kumin, W.D.
