Other Workshops

As well as the Savage Mountain Creative Writing Workshop, the Center for Creative Writing sponsors the Music and Writing Workshop in the fall and the Art and Writing Workshop in the spring.

Music and Writing Workshop

The Music and Writing Workshop occurs each autumn. This year's workshop is scheduled for Saturday, November 15th, starting at noon. The program features four seminars taught by local professors and musicians:

Song and Structure: Taught by Kenny Tompkins
Song Lyric Writing: Taught by Gerry LaFemina
Critical Writing about Music: Instructor TBD
Music as Creative Muse: Taught by George Guida

Musical performances follow the workshop. Cost per student is $25. Interested area musicians and writers can also apply for Hadra Scholarships through the Allegany Arts Council. Costs include instruction time and closing reception with performances by students and
faculty.

Art and Writing Workshop

Each spring the Center celebrates the nexus of art and writing with this annual workshop. This year's program happens Saturday afternoon, April 12, from 1:00-5:30. Study Writing Artists Statements, Writing Art Reviews or Using Art to Stimulate Creative Writing with professional writers and artists.
