Undergraduate Biology Major
The Curriculum for the Biology major requires a minimum of thirty-nine semester credits of biology, eighteen semester credits of chemistry, and eight semester credits of physics. If the student desires certification for secondary school teaching, it is necessary that the required courses in Education be completed in addition to the major requirements.
The Department of Biology encourages student participation in a field experience course: Biology 494 Field Experience in Biological Science, which may be taken for two to six credits. Also, opportunities are provided to juniors and seniors for independent research with a faculty member. A minor in Biology is available for students wishing to augment another major. Twenty four credits in biology are required for the minor.
