Class of 2012

On Saturday, May 19, 2012, 14 Chemistry students graduated from Frostburg State University, including 9 Chemistry Majors and 5 Chemistry Minors. One chemistry Minor graudated in December 2012. Congratulations!

Chemistry Majors

  • Joshua Bittner was a member of SMACS and GSE. He did undergraduate research with Dr. Matthew Crawford. Joshua graduated Magna Cum Laude and will be pursuing a degree in pharmacy from the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University.
  • Micayla Bowman was an officer of both SMACS and the Pre-med Society and a member of GSE and the President's Leadership Circle. She is a graduate of the Sloop Institute for Excellence in Leadership. She did undergraduate research with Dr. David Puthoff in the Biology Department. Micayla graduated Cum Laude and will pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry at Notre Dame.
  • Marcus Carter was a member of SMACS and GSE. He completed an undergraduate research project with Dr. Peggy Biser that led to two presentations at ACS National Meetings. Marcus graduated with Honors in General Education and will pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry from University of Maryland College Park.
  • Jesse Henderson ran cross country with the FSU Men's Cross Country team. He worked on a research project with Dr. Jerald Simon. Jesse will be seeking employment and then applying for graduate school.
  • Andrew Minnick was a member of SMACS. He did undergraduate research with Dr. Peggy Biser. Andrew will be seeking employment in chemistry.
  • Adam Pratt did undergraduate research with Dr. Robert Larivee. Adam graduated Cum Laude and will pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Scott Riley did undergraduate research with Dr. Robert Larivee. Scott graduated Cum Laude and will pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
  • Sarah Rusell was a member of SMACS and GSE. Her undergradaute research with Dr. Ben Norris led to a presentation at the ACS National Meeting. Sarah graduated Magna Cum Laude and will seek employment before applying to graduate school in chemistry.
  • Matthew Schreiner was an officer of both SMACS and GSE. He organized and led dozens of chemical demonstrations for hundreds of local elementary school children. Matthew graduated Summa Cum Laude and with Depratmental Honors in Chemistry. He will pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh.

Chemistry Minors

  • Justin Bittner majored in Biology and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Justin is pursuing a professional program in physical therapy at Shenandoah University.
  • Annette DeCapite majored in Biology and graduated Summa Cum Laude and with Departmental Honors in Biology. She did undergraduate research with Dr. David Puthoff and will be pursuing a Ph.D. in biology.
  • Andrew Dibonge majored in Liberal Studies. Andrew is seeking employment and will be applying to pharmacy school.
  • Lap Nguyen majored in Biology and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was an officer in SMACS and Pre-med Society. He is a graduate of the Sloop Institute for Excellence in Leadership and a member of the President's Leadership Circle. Lap was also the peer mentor for the STEM dorm. Lap is currently applying to dental school.
  • Ainsley Raley majored in Biology and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She did undergraduate research with Dr. Karen Keller. Ainsley was a member of the the Pre-med Society. She is currently applying to veterinary school.
  • Jannill Sites majored in Biology and graduated Honors in General Education. She was an officer in SMACS and a member of the Pre-med Society. Jannill will be pursuing employment as a paramedic before applying to physician assistant school.
