Career
Opportunities
The
Communication Studies program offers a high-quality liberal arts
education as a foundation either for direct entry into a wide
variety of careers or for admission to graduate or professional
study. Study in this discipline is a useful addition to career-oriented
majors such as business, computer science, or interpretive biology.
Solid course work combines theoretical examination of communication
processes with a practical development of communication skills.
Benefits
What
our graduates are doing...
"The
communication major gave me the discipline and critical thinking
skills to be competitive in a corporate market. My company has
been continually impressed with my ability to think professionally
and present ideas clearly to our clients."
"I
strongly feel that my speech communication background has provided
me with the skills necessary for preparing and delivering public
presentations. The value of speech communication skills is evident
in many aspects of a legal career where not only public address,
but also persuasive skills are used on a daily basis."
"Common
among all accomplished individuals is the ability to synthesize
ideas and communicate effectively. Those were core skills I developed
through my communication major at Frostburg., and have been critical
to my success as an attorney and chief executive in the financial
community."
"Learning
what to think and speak is obsolete before you take off your cap
and gown. Learning how to think and speak serves any walk of life
and is timeless in value."
