Hagerstown Center

Hagerstown CenterThe Frostburg State University Center at Hagerstown, opened in August 1988 and has grown steadily in enrollment. These enrollments include students in the MBA Program, M.Ed. Programs, the MAT Program, Accounting, Business Administration, Justice Studies, and Sociology. In addition, the Center hosts students in programs offered by other University System of Maryland colleges: University of Maryland's Nursing major, University of Maryland at Baltimore's Master of Social Work Program, University of Maryland University College's Information Systems Management.

The Center currently offers 50 - 60 courses each semester, with approximately one-third of the faculty being full time Hagerstown-based instructors, one-third being part-time local-based adjuncts, and one-third being full-time commuting faculty. (Commuting faculty are based full time in Frostburg and commute either in person or via distance learning.) The administrative staff consists of a director, an assistant to the director, an office manager, a secretary, and a part-time evening clerical. NOTE: The curriculum is restricted by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, which limits the Center to those programs approved for Hagerstown, and by an agreement with the Hagerstown Community which limits HCC to offering courses at the Freshman and Sophomore level and the Center to offering courses at the Junior, Senior and Graduate level.

Education Masters Programs

The FSU Center in Hagerstown is an integral part of the University. The Hagerstown Center offers a Master's in Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Most classes are offered late afternoon or evening. Several of thse classes utilize the fiberoptic, interactive distance learning classroom.
