Community PDS ExperiencesPDS partnerships enrich the community. In addition to the obvious expansion of school services because interns provide more human help in the classroom and school, collateral benefits extend to the community. Students are exposed to a better educational experience, and that lifts up the community. Students in need of specific remediation, tutoring, or enrichment are able to receive the extra help because there are university interns to assist and conduct the tasks and university staff available for consultation and training. The PDS standards encourage and anticipate community involvement and participation in school decision-making and participation. This collaborative relationship reconnects the school and the community, building positive parent and community involvement in the school’s and division’s educational efforts.
