Teacher Candidate PDS ExperiencesTeacher candidates have given the University a great deal of feedback about their experiences in a PDS. In the beginning of their placement, they most often talk about the ways in which the whole faculty is involved in their internship work and how helpful everyone is, whereas, in their non-PDS assignments, primarily one teacher had been involved. Candidates explain how the extensive involvement leads, right from the beginning of the experience, to their being a part of the entire school program. They help to plan and then participate in open houses, field trips, curriculum planning, teacher team meetings, staff development sessions, resource teacher conferences and parent conferences. They are also trained in and then tutor students in specific reading programs, have the opportunity to enroll in graduate courses offered at the school site, and observe other teachers' classes. In reality, they become a member of the school's staff.
