Interpreting AYP Results - Student progress in reading and math is measured by the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) or—for a small number of students with profound disabilities—the Independence Mastery Assessment Program (IMAP). Not only does the school as a whole (all students) need to make AYP targets but eight subgroups of students (African American, American Indian, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic, White, LEP, economically disadvantaged, and special education students) also need to make the same AYP target. Understand how your AYP scores were computed and AYP decisions were made. Use the data to determine next steps and set school improvement goals.
