Department of Educational Professions

Technology Resources

The Educational Professions department maintains technology resources for use by teacher candidates and faculty. There is microcomputer lab with 22 iMacs, 1 Gateway, printers, scanners, and a variety of educational software. At times when the lab is not being used for technology classes, the lab may be reserved to be used by other classes on a first-com first-served basis. A mobile cart with 10 iBooks and a projector can be checked out for classroom use. The department also has several digital cameras and digital camcorders which may be checked out.

The microcomputer lab is staffed by 3 graduate assistants and several undergraduate technology teaching assistants (UTTA). The graduate assistants assist with the technology courses and professional development for faculty. The UTTAs assist faculty with technology applications on a one-to-one basis and assist in the classrooms when faculty use technology in their teaching.

There is a professional development room for faculty use. The room contains a Macintosh G3, Macintosh G4, Gateway, CD burner, scanner, and two printers. Specialty software applications are installed on these computers and on two computers in the microcomputer lab.

Lab hours vary and the availability of the microcomputer lab or the wireless lab must be checked in the microcomputer lab. The graduate assistants maintain the schedule of lab usage. Digital equipment can be checked out through the microcomputer lab or the professional development room. For questions or concerns call the microcomputer lab at 301/487-4729.
