Department of Educational Professions

Elementary Education Program

The Educational Professions Department offers an Elementary Education major leading to eligibility for certification in grades 1-6 and middle school. Candidates must complete the 24 hour content specialization. Candidates cannot minor in education. All candidates must complete application for each phase of the program.

In addition to successful completion of the Elementary Education Program, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Successful presentation of a portfolio that meets standards
  • Passing score on Praxis II as established by the state of Maryland.
