Secondary Education Programs
The Educational Professions Department offers approved teacher education programs leading to eligibility for certification in Secondary Education (biology, chemistry, English, foreign languages - French and Spanish, earth science, mathematics, physics, social studies), for grades 7-12. Candidates major in academic content areas; they cannot major or minor in education. All candidates must complete application for each phase of the program.
The program application forms are listed in the Department Forms section and may be printed, completed, and submitted to the Office of Unit Assessment.
Program of Studies
The courses of study to be followed in academic content areas are established by individual departments. The education courses of study are listed on a program checklist. Th checklist is listed in the Department Forms section and may be printed and used as a guide for the candidates.
Program Exit Requirements
In addition to successful completion of the Secondary Education program, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
Program Advisory Council
The Secondary/P-12 Advisory Council brings together members of the diverse university departments and the school community involved in teacher education twice yearly to strengthen collaboration and program quality.
