Joe Comer (‘00) earned his master’s degree in Atmospheric Physics from UMBC in May of 2003. He is currently working as an Atmospheric Physicist for Science Systems and Applications, Inc. In his position, Joe works with Scanning Raman Lidar (SRL) for water vapor profiling.

Scott Goldberg (‘93) is employed as a Program Manager with AVR Enterprises, Inc. The company specializes in IT hardware and software solutions, selling equipment to the federal government.

Mike Shaffer (‘02) is a graduate student at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, where he is a member of the research group on condensed matter and material physics. His current research involves crystal morphology of ion oxides. Mike recently passed his Ph.D. qualifier exam. Congratulations!

George Saunders (‘94) is working for Chesapeake Engineering and Design, Inc., a forensic engineering firm in Annapolis, MD. He has been with the firm since February 2002. George recently earned his PE license in the state of Maryland.

Daniel Petty (‘96) is a computer programmer and interface specialist for health care systems. He is currently working for the Veterans Administration in Silver Spring, MD.

Sean Connell (‘00) developed a poster presentation, in collaboration with a number of colleagues, for TIGR’s 15th Annual Genome Sequencing and Analysis Conference held in Savannah, Georgia in September 2003. The presentation was entitled “High Throughput Mutational Spectrometer (HTMS) for the Discovery of Genetic Variations in Large Populations.” Sean is currently employed with Spectrumedix, a company based in State College, PA that develops, manufactures and sells analytic tools for mutation discovery, forensic identity and DNA sequencing.
