Dt. Megan BradleyDr. Megan Bradley

Education:

Background:

Dr. Bradley joined the Department of Psychology in 1999.

She is one of the primary faculty recipients of a grant from the University System of Maryland to redesign the introductory psychology course in collaboration with the National Center for Academic Transformation.

She has published an article in the “British Journal of Educational Technology” concerning students’ participation in online discussions and is recognized for her extensive expertise in the area of online education.

Dr. Bradley also wrote the student study guide for one of the most widely used texts in developmental psychology.

Most notable is her successful grant application to the National Science Foundation to conduct research on the development of deception in children between the ages of four and 11. The NSF also requested that her preliminary findings be used for its “2009 Highlights,” an internal publication that showcases “research of high caliber and strong public interest.” Dr. Bradley gave two poster presentations with student co-authors at national meetings based on this research.

Dr. Evan OffsteinDr. Evan Offstein

Education: Ph.D., Virginia Tech;
M.S.A., Central Michigan University;
B.S., West Point
Background:

Dr. Offstein is a former military intelligence officer and a graduate of West Point, and the author of three books on business and leadership. Stand Your Ground: Building Honorable Leaders the West Point Way, (Praeger, 2006) has been used by Virginia Tech for their Corps of Cadets leadership curriculum and by the Securities and Exchange Commission.  

He published two books in 2009, both of which are attracting high-level attention. He and Jason Morwick, his co-author of Making Telework Work: Leading People and Leveraging Technology for High-Impact Results, (Davies-Black Publishing) addressed senior leaders of the U.S. Department of the Treasury in August. And Gridiron Leadership: Winning Strategies and Breakthrough Tactics, (Praeger) co-authored by Morwick and Scott Griffith,  features a foreword by Steelers owner Art Rooney and has been endorsed by Gen. Raymond Odierno, the U.S. Army’s second-highest-ranking general, USM Chancellor Brit Kirwan and Sergeant Major of the Army (and Mount Savage native) Ken Preston.

His career encompasses military, profit and nonprofit organizations and academia.

Background:

Dr. Shah joined the Department of Management in 1989 and has been a prolific writer and researcher ever since.

He has presented 51 papers and workshops at various regional, national and international professional meetings.

In the past five years he has published 21 journal articles, two of which have received the “Best Paper” awards in the “Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education and the International Journal of Management.” His co-authored textbook, “Introduction to Business, “sold over 7,000 copies in its first semester of publication, and its applied approach is fast becoming a popular choice for professors.

Furthermore, recognizing the scarcity of literature on micro-entrepreneurial activity, Dr. Shah collaborated with two colleagues to examine the three westernmost counties to determine the extent of microenterprises in Maryland. Their findings earned them a $5,000 grant to expand the research to the entire state.
