The Plan of Study: Proposal & Rationale If you choose to design your own interdisciplinary Focus Area, you must present a coherent plan, complete with rationale explaining: 1. the interrelatedness of the 24 credit hours selected from an interdisciplinary grouping or cluster of professional or technical courses (how do the courses relate to each other? what values, skill-development, history do they share? how do they respond to your professional goals and needs?) and 2. the summative nature of your Capstone course or project (how will this experience-internship, independent study, practicum, or seminar — serve to finalize your academic work?).
