Leadership Studies Minor
Requirements

This is a 19 credit Minor consisting of 13 hours of Core Courses and 6 hours of Electives. Three credits of electives are chosen from each of the following categories: Leadership Values and Skills and Leadership Environments.

The four core courses introduce you to fundamental theory and skills involved in Leadership. An elective course, chosen from the Leadership Values and Skills category, is intended to help you make and communicate ethical decisions as a leader. Another elective course covers leadership in context and is chosen from the Leadership Environments category.

Introduction to
Human Communication


Course Description:

Fundamental theory and practice of human communication in dyadic, small-group and public situations. Offered every semester.

LEAD 101

Introduction to Leadership Studies

Course Description:

Examines fundamental principles and develops basic skills for effective
leadership in group, organization, and community contexts. Offered Spring semesters.

LEAD 201
3 Credits

Leadership Studies:
Theory and Practice


Course Description:
Introduction to the study of leadership from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Offered Fall semesters.

LEAD 401
4 Credits

The Citizen Leader

Course Description:
Theoretical and experiential exploration of the opportunities, obstacles, and benefits involved in becoming engaged in civic life and social change. Requires extensive field experience. Offered variable semesters. Prerequisites: CMST 102, LEAD 101, LEAD 201, and 6 credits from approved elective list.
