1. Required Core Courses (13 credits)
CMST 102 Introduction to Human Communication (3 credits)
Fundamental theory and practice of human communication in dyadic, small-group, and public situations. Not open to students who have credit for former CMAT 102. Every semester.
LEAD 101 Introduction to Leadership Studies (3 credits)
Examines fundamental principles and develops basic skills for effective leadership in group, organization, and community contexts. Spring.
LEAD 201 Leadership Theories and Practices (3 credits)
Examines traditional and contemporary leadership theories and their application to current leadership challenges. Fall.
LEAD 401 Citizen Leader (4 credits)
Theoretical and experiential exploration of the opportunities, obstacles, and benefits involved in becoming engaged in civic life and social change. Requires extensive field experience. Variable. Prerequisites: CMST 102, LEAD 101, LEAD 201, and 6 credits from approved elective list. Students who have previously earned credit for LEAD 250 cannot earn credit for LEAD 401.
