Genealogy: this research
resource is a listing of materials helpful for genealogy
research available at the Ort Library including listings of
sources dealing with church records, cemetery records, census
information, marriage records, death records, Allegany County
records, and military records. It also includes links to other
local libraries and archives as well as helpful Internet genealogy
resources.

|
Western Maryland: these materials contain works on Frostburg
State University, items by and/or about Western Maryland citizens,local
history and geography of Western Maryland and the surrounding
counties in WV and PA. Also included are historical works on
the Chesapeake and Ohio (C & O) Canal, railroads (B &
O, C & O, Western Maryland), and the coal mining industry.
There are several selected original maps created prior to 1900,
and journals and periodicals on Western Maryland.

FSU: these materials consist of University catalogs,
yearbooks, student handbooks (The Pathfinder), faculty handbooks,
University governance minutes, published materials (student
newspaper, The Bottom Line, and University newsletter, StateLines)
and more.

Jon C. Jansen Collection: Mr. Jansen was a local chemist,
astronomer, and historian with an interest in classic science
fiction who, in 1990, bequeathed his collection to the University.
This gift included over 5,100 books and over 500 phonograph
records including specialized works on astronomy, World War
II, history, mammals, and mythology. The principle portion of
the collection, however, is the rich assortment of over 1,000
titles of paperback and hardbound science fiction books from
the 1950s and 1960s.

John Rutledge Collection: details the coal
mining industry in Western Maryland. Topographical and mine maps
of the George's Creek area and more. Also accident and fatality
reports.
