Microform Documents

An important second floor resource is the microform collection: reduced images of print documents reproduced on photographic film for preservation and storage purposes.

There are 6 microfilm readers (3 with printers) and 4 microfiche readers available. Microfilm and microfiche are two different microform formats.

Microfilm holdings include:

  • New York Times, 1851-present
  • Many local and historic newspapers dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries
  • Wall Street Journal,  1958-present
  • Maryland Census, 1880-2002
  • Various scholarly and trade journals
Microfiche holdings include the the Library of American Culture (LAC) collection.
