Using Online Resources to Promote Reasoning and Sense Making
The free online resources available from the NCTM Illuminations project stimulate mathematical play. Activities like Paper Pool encourage students to search for uncommon algebraic patterns, the Decimal Maze promotes understanding of number and operations, and the Mean and Median tool supports exploration of data concepts. Experience myriad resources from Illuminations, and then discuss how they can be used to promote reasoning and sense making in your classroom.
