Staff - Mrs. Melanie K. Lombardi: Biography

Mrs. Melanie LombardiMrs. Lombardi, a native of the Cumberland area, began her video production career as a free lance videographer and production assistant in the Baltimore and DC area in 1999. She worked on different productions such as multi-camera recital productions for Jo-Mar Productions, commercial shoots and teleconferencing meetings for various companies. She was also involved with the Mount Carmel Players theatre group for one season as a lighting assistant for the production of Annie Get Your Gun.

Melanie began her current position as the FSU TV3 Manager in the fall of 2000. She, with the support of the department, has implemented many changes of equipment and programming. Athletic events in the past were taped with a small single camera package for several years. The first upgrade of equipment was the purchase and use of a multi-camera equipment package for taping FSU sporting events, Frostburg City Council meetings, and numerous special events both on and off campus. Later, with financial assistance from Tele-Media Cable Company (now Comcast) and the City of Frostburg, TV3 was able to obtain additional equipment allowing for the upgrade from a manual router system to an automated system.

The event list for TV3 productions has grown to include panel discussions, concerts, fashion shows by local student organizations, and the FSU Student Government Association meetings.

To serve the educational needs of the local community, several educational series of programs were added to the channel's lineup including three series from NASA: Destination Tomorrow, SCI Files, and Connect. In the fall 2006 semester, TV3 began programming a few series of shows from Annenberg, an educational channel that provides an extraordinary range of programming.

As channel manager, some of her duties include teaching a multi-camera production course. The class provides coverage of FSU sports, FSU Student Government Association Meetings, Frostburg City Council Meetings, and specialty programs. Melanie also serves as a directed study and internship supervisor for students interested in production, post-production, multi-meda designing and other topics. Students under her direction produce a variety of productions and post-production projects for the local campus community and for FSU TV3.

In her spare time she enjoys watching professional sports, reading, gardening, swimming, and cooking.
