Mr. Chuck Dicken:
Charles Dicken is the Station Director and Program Director of Frostburg State University’s public radio station, WFWM 91.9 FM. He began his radio career in Fall 1990 as a community volunteer at WFWM. He also worked at Wired 103 in Limerick, Ireland while studying there. He was hired as the Program Director in May 1998 and became an adjunct in the Department of Mass Communications at the same time. He has taught Introduction to Radio (MCOM 150), Announcing & Performance (MCOM 250) and currently teaches Radio Workshop (MCOM 100).
Mr. Dicken has an AA degree in Liberal Arts from Allegany Community College, a BS in History from Frostburg State University, and an MA in Irish Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He has served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman and in the Maryland National Guard as a member of a Long Range Surveillance unit. In addition to his work in radio, Mr. Dicken was a personal assistant to Deputy Jim Mitchell of the Irish parliament and worked for the Sinn Fein party in Washington DC. He has served on the Allegany Arts Council’s Board of Directors and currently is a member of the Board of Directors for Frostburg First, a Main Street Maryland Community.
Chuck is an avid music buff, newshound and rabid Celtic FC fan.
